landbaby evolved in 2006 when fine art graduate claire set about making some money over the summer after finishing uni. what started out as a hobbie selling her creations at the various art markets in liverpool soon turned into a small business, and by the end of 2006 she had opened her 1st shop in grand central.

Claire started her business on the grand sum of £50, she had no money in the bank and took a complete risk opening a shop and taking on a lease hoping she would be able to make the first months rent! her shop fittings consisted of a dressing table from her bedroom and a few cheap shelves. she covered the walls in fabric and hunted high and low for other little bits of furniture she could use. Over the years claire has continued to maintain her style by collecting old trunks and vintage type writers, which add charm and a few tales to the shop, and have in turn influenced her work.

In 2007 claire moved the shop to the popular indpendent retail location that is bold street, setting up in petticoat lane. Over the months claire continued with her shows and introduced other deigners work into the shop, offering the designers a place to sell there work.

As landbaby started to become more and more popular, a much larger space was needed, and in march 2008 claire opened at the Bluecoat gallery, liverpool. which is where you can find her now. landbaby has been at the bluecoat for almost 4 years now, Housing a myriad of crafted vintage fabrics, buttons, beads and bows . Its the perfect haunt in which to find the ideal gift, with new items arriving each and every day ..... and the best part! is that you can watch claire or one of the other designers at work in the shop, creating yet another beautiful one off piece.

landbaby stocks up to 30 different designers and is always looking to take on new ones, her only rule being that the work is hand made by yourself and unique in design. she can't always take all the work in that is sent to her due to space in the shop, but if you're interested in selling your work with us then feel free to email us images of your work to :
